Webull Extended Hours

Webull is a popular online brokerage that offers commission-free trading. But, one of the main problems for traders that have a full-time job is that they cannot trade during market hours. Webull has a solution to this problem, they offer trading before the market opens and after it closes.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the Webull extended hours service in more detail.

Webull currently offers new users up to 12 free stocks for trying the platform. You’ll get two free stocks (each worth $3 – $3,000) for signing up. Deposit any amount to get up to 10 more free stocks. Sign up for Webull through this link to be eligible for the bonus.

Webull Trading Hours and Fees

Webull investors can access the regular trading session between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm (EST) as usual. But, they also have access to extended trading hours that start at 4:00 am (EST) and last until 8:00 pm (EST).

Investors using Webull can begin trading up to 5½ hours before the opening bell and up to 4 hours after the market closes. So, the trading day is extended from 4:00 am until 8:00 pm (EST), which is 16 hours of trading throughout a market day.

This is a great service and it’s free to use. There are no extra hidden fees and surcharges to trade earlier in the morning or later in the evening.

Webull charges $0 commission on trades of stocks and ETFs, but the cost of trading outside regular hours is higher when compared to regular day trading. The reason is the bid-ask spreads are typically wider during extending trading hours and this should be factored into your thinking.

Extended Hours Trading on Webull

If you’re interested in Webull extended hours trading it’s likely that you’ll want to trade using the desktop platform. Here are two important considerations that you need to bear in mind when you’re trading with both Webull platforms (desktop and mobile):

1.   Webull Extended Hours Desktop Trading

The Webull graphs do not include the price action for extended-hours trading. But, it is possible to add it. At the top-right of the chart, you’ll find the settings icon. When you click it you’ll see a settings window. This is where you can adjust the chart settings and this includes adding an extended-hours price action as needed.

When you see the “Pre” or “After”  words near the security price, you know that you’re looking at the morning or evening prices respectively. You need to select “Yes” on the order form from a drop-down menu that’s labeled “Extended Hours” and by default, this is set to “No”. If you don’t select “Yes” you will be restricted to ordering during regular trading hours only.

2.   Using the Webull Mobile Platform

The Webull mobile platform has many similarities with the desktop platform, but there are some key differences that need to be understood to get the best trading experience:

  • The Graphs: These will automatically display the extended-hours action and you don’t need to take any action to see the pre-market and/or after-hours price histories. This view is the default and you can view the chart in a vertical or horizontal format.
  • Viewing Prices: The pre-market and after-hours extended-hours prices can be viewed automatically depending on the time of day that you’re using the Webull app.
  • The Watchlist: The Webull app watchlist will indicate the pre-market and after-market prices using the same labels. But, it’s important to bear in mind that some securities do not trade at these times.
  • The Order Form: The app order form has an extended-hours circle that must be checked to proceed. If you fail to check the circle you cannot make eligible orders for early-bird or late-night trading sessions.
