Get Free Money Now

Who doesn’t like the idea of having some extra cash in their pocket? Unfortunately, while there are plenty of side hustle ideas to make extra money, most of us struggle to find the time to fit it into our busy schedules. The good news is, it’s entirely possible to generate extra income for minimal effort and at no additional cost to you.

In this list, you’ll find a multitude of apps, websites, services, and methods that enable you to increase your earnings and capitalize with very little time to spare. Whether you’re surfing the web, shopping online, scrolling through social media, or playing games online, each of these regular pastimes can be monetized and allow you to get free money now. We’ll show you how.

Real Ways to Get Free Money Now

After reading through this list, you’re sure to have uncovered some ways of generating profit during your free time:

1. Unclaimed Money

Did you know there are websites dedicated to helping you find unclaimed funds that are rightfully yours? It takes just a few minutes of your time and costs you nothing. These sites are the perfect starting point in your efforts to get free money now.

MissingMoney.com

With around a billion dollars of property thought to be left unclaimed in the United States, there’s a good chance you have lost assets or money you can claim.

MissingMoney allows users to search the local database for property left unclaimed and handed over to state governments. If you find property that belongs to you, you’ll claim it through the website, so it’s returned to you.

Unclaimed property could be uncashed paychecks, unclaimed rental deposits, or other capital that has been left unclaimed.

MissingMoney is easy to navigate and does most of the hard work for you. With such a quick and easy process, it’s well worth checking and possibly retrieving some money that’s rightfully yours.

If you’ve moved or changed your mailing address within the past few years, be sure to check each address that could be associated with your unclaimed money.

Note: I tried MissingMoney.com and found $150 from an old PayPal account. I received the check in the mail a few weeks later!

Unclaimed.org

Unclaimed.org provides a similar service as MissingMoney.com, but the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators runs this site. Simply check through the site’s database for any unclaimed property and recover your lost assets.

If you think you may have unclaimed money, it’s worth checking both MissingMoney and Unclaimed.org, as there’s always the chance that one database may pick up assets that the other does not.

2. Government Assistance

Government assistance programs exist to help people in need. If you meet the qualifications of various programs, you may be able to receive significant financial assistance. Here are a few worth checking.

Benefits.gov

Possibly the most challenging part of getting government assistance money is finding out which programs you’re eligible for. Thankfully, Benefits.gov offers a “Benefit Finder Questionnaire” designed to help you find the right programs. Take a few minutes to answer the questions and see if there are programs that might be a good fit for you or your family.

Child Care Development Fund

Child care costs can be a significant struggle for many families. The Child Care Development Fund is a federal program that provides money to states and then passes it to families. There are income requirements to qualify, so check with your state office to determine if you’re eligible.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is another federal program administered by each state. The program aims to help low-income individuals and families with the costs of heating and cooling a home. The income requirements vary by state, but you can check with your local state office to see if you’re eligible.

Student Aid

If you’re a current student, you may be eligible for extra financial help from the government, aside from a student loan. Federal Student Aid could provide you with $2,000 to help alleviate the financial stress on students and cover some costs, and you don’t have to pay it back, unlike student loans. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of this, and so the money essentially goes unclaimed.

By filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you’ll find out whether you qualify for this help. The application takes under an hour and will require you to provide some financial documents such as bank statements and tax returns. If you’re looking for other possibilities or scholarships, check with the financial aid of your school or university.

Note: Please be aware that many scams claim to offer free cash from the government. The aid programs listed above are legit, but scammers commonly claim that they’ll help you qualify for government grants or loans. As USA.gov states, “The federal government does not offer grants or ‘free money’ to individuals to start a business or cover personal expenses, contrary to what you might see online or in the media.” And according to the FTC, “Offers of free money from government grants are scams.” So if you see an offer for a federal grant, stay clear.

3. Apps With Signup Bonuses:

Many mobile apps and websites offer a monetary bonus when you create an account. Many of these bonuses are relatively small ($5-$20), but they’re effortless, and there are many of them. Free money with your mobile phone doesn’t get much easier than this.

Swagbucks ($5 Signup Bonus)

Swagbucks is a great place to start if you’re looking for easy, free money now. Swagbucks is essentially a rewards site that compensates its users for completing simple online tasks or surfing the web using the Swagbucks search engine or browser extension.

The quickest and easiest way to earn money with Swagbucks is by taking advantage of their signup bonus. Swagbucks offers a $5 welcome bonus to new users simply for creating an account using an existing email address. This bonus gets you well on your way to cashing out your earnings in PayPal cash, completely free of charge. You can also use the cashback component to easily earn cashback on many of the purchases you already make.

Ibotta ($20 in Signup Bonuses)

Ibotta boasts the highest signup bonus on this list, offering new users up to $20 for creating an account. All you need to do is visit the Ibotta site using an active referral link, create your account, and complete the required Ibotta offers within the specified time frame.

Usually, you’ll need to redeem both an in-store and online offer within 14 days to receive the full bonus. The offers require you to purchase items recommended to you by Ibotta. These tend to be daily household items or groceries which you would likely purchase anyway, so this is an effortless way to earn an extra $20.

Rakuten ($10 Signup Bonus)

Rakuten users benefit from cashback rewards for their online or in-store purchases. As well as this, they offer a $10 welcome bonus to new members.

To receive the bonus, you’ll need to create your Rakuten account and begin shopping with Rakuten’s participating retailers and online stores. In addition, you must spend $25 or more within 90 days of becoming a Rakuten member. Ninety days is a generous time frame, and with thousands of partnered retailers on Rakuten, many of your regular purchases will allow you to qualify for the bonus.

While it depends on your spending habits, many people will be able to rack up $100 or more per year in real money from Rakuten just from routine purchases.

MyPoints ($10 Signup Bonus)

Making extra cash with MyPoints is straightforward, even more so since they began offering a signup bonus of $10 to new users, providing a nice bonus for free money now.

Bumped (Free Stock)

Bumped offers a unique user experience. It is offering members free stock simply for shopping with participating retailers. The app is not designed for stock trading but simply for providing rewards to customers in the form of stocks. It’s similar to a cashback app, but instead of earning cash, you earn stock.

By linking a credit or debit card, Bumped will track your spending and reward you for any qualifying purchases. In addition, you can eventually sell the stocks using the app whenever you decide. Best of all, these rewards can be stacked on top of the rewards you earn from a cashback credit card.

Stash ($5 Signup Bonus)

Stash is another financial app that offers a bonus for new users. After opening an account with Stash and making a deposit of just $5, you’ll receive a $5 sign-up bonus.

4. Rebates, Coupons, and Refunds

Here’s an option that you might be completely unaware of. There are several sites offering rebates and coupons for deep discounts, as much as 100%. Most of these offers are for products sold on Amazon, and you can find them easily with the sites listed below.

RebateKey

RebateKey is the top site for deep discounts and freebies for products sold at Amazon (other sites as well, but most of the deals are for Amazon). The site allows merchants to share their latest products and deals with consumers, to encourage engagement with their brand, and drive sales of their products.

You can check the site to see current offers, claim any that you like, and then you’ll receive the rebate about 35 days after the purchase. I use the site to get free products on Amazon (if you’re a Prime member, you’ll love RebateKey since you can get free shipping). It’s one of the best-kept secrets for amazing deals.

Rebaid

Rebaid is very similar to RebateKey, and it’s another excellent resource for deep discounts and free products sold on Amazon. Rebaid isn’t quite as established as RebateKey, so the selection is a little more limited, but you can still find some fantastic deals here. It’s definitely worth using both sites to find the best offers.

Vipon

Similarly, Vipon offers a place to find the best deals on Amazon products. You can find deep discounts here, and the selection is outstanding (the best of any Amazon deal site). It’s worth checking Vipon before making any purchase at Amazon because you may find a similar product for an unbeatable price.

Some discounts offer as much as 100% off products, meaning that you get the item for free. New deals are released throughout the day and often run on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s worth checking the site if you’ve got some spare time and are on the lookout for a specific product.

Vipon: The Biggest Selection of Discounts on Amazon

Vipon provides a massive collection of coupons and deep discounts on products sold at Amazon. You can easily save 20% - 60% on thousands of different products. It's the biggest and best selection from any Amazon deal site.

Rebatest

Rebatest is another Amazon rebate site similar to RebateKey and Rebaid. While we prefer the user experience of RebateKey and Rebaid, Rebatest is another site that you’ll want to check out if you’re looking for the best deals (up to 100% off) on products sold at Amazon.

Paribus

Paribus automatically price-checks popular online retailers that offer a low-price guarantee or price-drop guarantee to ensure that you get a refund if the price drops.

Once you’ve signed up to Paribus with your email address, their software will scan your inbox for purchase confirmations and then price-check your order with other retailers. If Paribus finds the product cheaper elsewhere, it will notify you or request a refund of the price difference on your behalf. In addition, Paribus offers other services, including delivery tracking, to hold businesses accountable for late deliveries.

Paribus may not provide a consistent way to earn money or cashback, but it is worth signing up if you often make online purchases and would like to ensure that you are getting the best offers available.

5. Credit Card Signup Bonuses

One of the best ways to earn significant amounts of free money is through credit card signup bonuses. If you have a decent credit score, you can make hundreds of dollars by signing up for a new credit card and meeting the qualifications. There are many signup bonuses available, and they frequently change, so we’re not going to list them all here. But you can see a few of the best current offers below or visit this best credit card signup bonuses page to see the best current offers.

Please note: We love using credit cards for cashback and rewards points, but be sure to use them responsibly. Only charge what you can afford to pay in full each month, don’t carry a balance on the card, and avoid credit card debt.

6. Bank Account Signup Bonuses

Bank account bonuses are similar to credit card bonuses, but they are not reliant on your credit score. You can earn hundreds of dollars for creating a new checking, savings, or investment account during promotions. The bonuses usually come with specific requirements, so be sure to check the details and terms before signing up. For example, you might need to receive direct deposits into a checking account to qualify.

These bonuses change frequently, so please see our page of bank account bonuses for the best current offers.

Between credit cards and bank accounts, it’s possible to make hundreds or even thousands of dollars per year with minimal effort.

7. Surveys and Small Tasks

One of the most popular ways to make money in your spare time is by taking online surveys and sharing your opinion. While you’re not going to get rich with the money you make from surveys, it’s a very flexible way to make extra money in your spare time. We looked at some of these apps and sites early because of their signup bonuses, but they’re also ideal for answering questions for money whenever you have time to take a quick survey.

Swagbucks ($5 Signup Bonus)

Swagbucks is our favorite survey website/app. You can take short, simple surveys on your phone whenever you have a few minutes to spare. You’ll earn points (they call them Swagbucks) for completed surveys, and you can redeem those points for your choice of cash or free gift cards. In addition to surveys, Swagbucks also allows you to earn points for many other small tasks. Overall, it’s one of the best ways to earn PayPal money.

Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is a platform that connects consumers with suitable surveys. The surveys available to you are dependent on your circumstances, such as your age and location. Signup is quick and easy, but it’s worth taking the extra time to complete the extended profile, as this will increase the number of surveys for you.

Survey Junkie offers surveys that center primarily around consumer products and services. If you would like to provide your insight and potentially influence future consumer goods, Survey Junkie is a great place to find surveys to earn a gift card.

MyPoints ($10 Signup Bonus)

MyPoints is a free app similar to Swagbucks. It’s another site/app that allows you to earn points for several different small tasks, including online surveys. You can then redeem those points for your choice of gift cards.

If you want to make money with surveys and small tasks, we recommend using a few different sites because it will increase the number of surveys available to you. MyPoints is a site you’ll want to check out.

InboxDollars ($5 Signup Bonus)

InboxDollars, like Swagbucks and MyPoints, allows you to earn money by taking surveys and completing other small tasks. One excellent detail about InboxDollars is that you can log in to your dashboard and see a list of the current top offers. Complete the suggestions on this list, and you’ll be able to earn some extra money pretty quickly.

KashKick

As far as survey sites go, KashKick is not one of the most widely known. However, KashKick has excellent online reviews and offers reasonable payment rates on a vast range of surveys. Like Survey Junkie, new users complete a preliminary questionnaire to enable KashKick to match you with other suitable surveys.

As with most other survey sites, the highest-paid surveys tend to take the longest time to complete, so how much you earn depends on how much time you have to spare.

As well as surveys, KashKick offers other money-making opportunities from your phone. For example, you can earn a gift card by completing simple online tasks such as watching videos, playing games, and taking short quizzes.

KashKick - Make Money from Surveys and Simple Tasks

KashKick allows you to make money easily in your spare time by taking online surveys, watching videos, surfing the web, and other simple tasks.

Idle Empire

Like KashKick, Idle Empire offers members a range of ways to earn rewards through their website. The difference, however, is that with Idle Empire, instead of rewards paid in cash or gift cards, they’re paid in bitcoin.

You’ll earn rewards for participating in surveys, watching videos, referring friends, completing offers advertised on the dashboard, taking part in giveaways, as well as many other online tasks and activities.

If you’re interested in cryptocurrency, Idle Empire could be an excellent way to earn some extra bitcoin in your spare time.

8. Easy Cashback Apps

One of our favorite ways to earn easy money is through cashback apps. With the right apps in your arsenal, you can save money and get cash back for many of the purchases you need to make anyway. And there are also many ways to stack the rewards several levels deep.

Slide

Slide is a relatively new app, but it’s one of our favorites. With Slide, you can earn a flat 4% cashback on every purchase at hundreds of stores and restaurants by paying through the app. And if you pre-load your accounts with credit (just like buying a gift card to a store or restaurant), you’ll get 5% cashback. Best of all, this cashback can is on top of cashback or rewards from a credit card.

I use the Citi Double Cash credit card to earn 2% cash back on every purchase, so I combine Slide to get a total of 7% cash back on purchases (2% from Citi and 5% from Slide).

TopCashback

TopCashback offers some of the highest cash back rates for your online purchases and is currently one of the most popular services of this kind. Membership is completely free, although if you’re looking for higher cashback rates and additional bonuses, you might consider their $5 monthly subscription plan.

Members of TopCashback earn for any online purchases made with participating retailers, and rewards are cash or free gift cards.

Rakuten

Rakuten was mentioned earlier because of the $10 signup bonus, but it’s worth mentioning in this section because it’s probably the most popular cashback website/app. Thousands of retailers, websites, and restaurants partner with Rakuten to offer easy rewards. In addition to the cashback, Rakuten’s browser extension will also automatically find and apply coupon codes when you’re shopping online.

Ibotta

We also mentioned Ibotta earlier because of its signup bonus offers, but like Rakuten, it’s one of the most popular apps for cashback. Ibotta is incredible for saving money on groceries, although there are many other offers as well.

Fetch Rewards

The Fetch Rewards mobile app enables users to earn cashback rewards on their regular grocery shopping. Simply upload a copy of your receipt and let Fetch do the rest.

Some items on your shopping list could earn you as much as 10,000 points, which is roughly equivalent to $10. As well as this, Fetch will also advise you on future products or brands which are likely to reap the highest rewards.

Almost anyone could benefit from using this service. It’s free, user-friendly, and offers excellent incentives.

Learn more in our Ibotta vs. Fetch Rewards comparison.

Dosh

Dosh is a rewards app that will notify you of all local restaurants and retailers offering cashback in your area. By linking a credit or debit card, any transactions with these merchants automatically reward your Dosh account in the form of points.

You’ll get rewards by PayPal or Venmo deposits, or you might choose to allow Dosh to donate them to charity on your behalf.

The app works entirely in the background, so it requires minimal effort on your part.

Drop

Much like Dosh, Drop is a mobile app available on most devices. After downloading the app and linking a credit or debit card, users benefit from cashback rewards for their regular daily expenses.

Rewards are earned through in-store and online purchases with participating retailers and redeemed for gift cards with a wide range of merchants.

Pei

Pei offers a similar service to Drop, automatically tracking your purchases with partnered retailers through your linked credit or debit card.

Offering members up to 20% cash back on purchases, Pei offers reasonable rates and is very easy to use. Once you have allowed your location to be shared within the app, Pei will highlight all participating stores and merchants, so you can tailor your spending and gain the highest rewards possible.

9. Sell Your Data

If you’re looking for an easy way to earn free cash and rewards, one option is to sell or provide access to your data. There are a few different ways to do it. Here are some of our favorites.

MobileXpression

MobileXpression is available to download as an app on most iOS and Android devices. The app enables market research firms to understand better how consumers use the internet.

The app runs silently on your device, meaning any income gained is completely passive and requires no effort beyond signing up. While running, the app will track your behavioral patterns using the internet: which websites and apps you access most frequently, for how long, and at what time of day. It’s important to note that the app does not track any activity in said apps or websites. As well as this, MobileXpression assures its users that all data is stored anonymously.

Signup is quick and easy, and rewards are in Amazon gift cards, charity donations, or sweepstake entries. You can earn about $50 per year in rewards very easily with MobileXpression.

Nielsen Computer & Mobile Panel

The premise of this app is very similar to that of MobileXpression. It works silently in the background of your device to track your internet usage. Again, all identifying information is removed from any stored data before it is sent back to Nielsen for analysis.

The app works because online retailers will pay Nielsen for this data to enable them to tailor their advertising so that it better suits their target consumers. Nielsen then shares a percentage of this profit with their users.

The rewards with this type of app are not huge but are consistent and accumulate over time in exchange for you simply using your device as you usually would. A great option if you’re looking for minimal effort rewards.

UpVoice

UpVoice offers its members the chance to earn rewards simply for accessing certain websites. The websites include Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, among others. So, if you often find yourself scrolling through these sites, why not capitalize on this time?

UpVoice claims that members can earn up to $75 per year simply for installing the app. It’s also possible to boost your earnings even further by participating in simple online tasks such as completing surveys or referring friends.

UpVoice: Earn Passive Income for Surfing

UpVoice will pay you (in gift cards) for visiting your favorite sites like Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, LinkedIn, and Twitter. You already visit these sites, so why not get paid?

Embee Meter CX

With Embee Meter CX the application approval process is slightly more selective. Unfortunately, this app is available only to Android users, and your application’s success depends on age, location, and other requirements.

It seems that Embee Meter CX offers some of the highest reward percentages to their users. For example, it’s possible to earn up to $0.30 per day using Embee Meter, so if left to run, you could earn almost an extra $10 per month entirely passively.

Cash-out is available as soon as you reach $5 in your Embee account and is deposited directly into your PayPal account.

Small Business Knowledge Center

Junk Mail is an inconvenience. One that is either ignored or requires us to sift through a plethora of marketing materials that often aren’t applicable or useful to us. With SBKC, you could earn monetary rewards for your junk mail.

SBKC pay their members for sending in their direct mail and email communications which relate to the qualifying topics such as insurance, banking, home improvements, and a host of other categories.

Admittedly, this requires more effort on the user than one of the aforementioned mobile apps, but SBKC claims that their members can earn up to $20 in rewards points within six weeks, so the incentives are pretty high.

There is often a wait-list to join SBKC as a consumer, and not all applications will be approved, but if you find yourself constantly deleting or recycling your piles of junk mail, why not apply for an account with SBKC, and earn money for your junk mail instead?

Honeygain

Honeygain is a passive income app available to install on iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows devices. The app rewards users for simply surfing the web. Your internet access is sold to third parties, and profits are split with consumers.

Bonuses are available to boost your earnings within the app. With a $5 signup bonus and others available for referring friends, it’s easy to maximize your profits using this app. One thing to be aware of when using the app is that it will make use of your mobile data plan, so unless you have unlimited data usage, it might be worth disabling the app when you’re not using a secure wifi connection.

FluidStack

FluidStack is a legitimate provider of passive income to many. Upon signing up with FluidStack, you essentially allow them access to a small portion of your computer’s bandwidth to act as a server while you are not using it.

This is a unique service and allows cloud service charges to be reduced, as there is less need to use enormous data centers to share content and media. As a member, you are paid for signing up and allowing your computer to be used while idle. Payment rates vary and depend on your internet speed, but it is possible to earn $50 a month to do absolutely nothing beyond signing up.

The service is open to anyone who owns a desktop computer and has a stable internet connection. Installing FluidStack should not impact your regular computer usage, as they will recognize when you are using your computer and will not utilize it until it is completely idle.

10. Save Money on Monthly Bills

Monthly bills are an unavoidable part of life. But thankfully, there are some ways to save money on those bills. Try these services that will easily put more money back into your pocket.

Truebill

Truebill is a free mobile app that assists users in managing their finances. Its main functions are lowering the cost of monthly bills, managing subscriptions, and seeking refunds that you may be owed on your behalf.

Once you have linked a banking account and provided a copy of your latest utility bill, Truebill will work to reduce costs and flag any recurring payments, giving you the option to cancel them. In addition, Truebill can work with most banks and billing providers to negotiate lower costs and reduced charges on things such as overdrafts or late payments.

After securing the savings, Truebill will claim 40% of the amount saved to cover their service fee. The rate is relatively high, but with a massive range of services on offer from Truebill, it may be worth looking into whether this app would be beneficial to you.

Manage Your Money with Truebill
Truebill is an app that will help you to optimize your spending and get a complete view of your finances. They also offer a bill negotiation service that can help to lower your monthly bills and free up some room in your budget.

Trim

The services offered by Trim are similar to those provided by Truebill (see Trim vs. Truebill vs. Billshark). The main difference is that Trim will take a smaller percentage of your savings, averaging between 30 and 33%.
