SaverLife will actually reward you with cash for saving your own money. Sign up to the free program (run by earn.org, a non-profit organization) and link it to your savings account. You’ll earn $10 for each month (through the next 6 months) that you add at least $20 to your savings account. You can make an easy $60 over the next 6 months just by saving some of your own money!
Chase is offering a cash bonus for opening a new Chase Freedom credit card account. In order to get the $150 bonus you will need to make at least $500 in purchases in the first 90 days.
This is a great cash back credit card. You’ll earn 1% cash back on every purchase, and 5% cash back on purchases in specific categories. Those categories for 5% cash back change each quarter. Sometimes you’ll be able to get 5% cash back on gas, groceries, or at major retailers like Walmart or Amazon. The 5% rewards really add up fast! I’ve had the Chase Freedom card for several years, and I definitely recommend it – especially with the $150 bonus!
Chase is also offering the same cash bonus for the Chase Freedom Unlimited card. Many of the details are the same as the Chase Freedom (no annual fee, $150 cash bonus if you spend at least $500 during the first 90 days).
The difference is in the cash rewards that you’ll get for your purchases. With the Chase Freedom Unlimited card you will get 1.5% cash back on every purchase. It’s higher than the 1% for the Chase Freedom card, but without the 5% categories.
Open up an online savings account with Capital One and qualify for an easy $25 cash bonus. The account has no minimum balance and no fees, but you will need an initial deposit of at least $250 to qualify for the $25 bonus.
I’ve been a customer since 2002, back when it was ING Direct (acquired several years ago by Capital One). You will love the convenience of this savings account. You can easily set up multiple accounts and name them for different purchase (such as “emergency fund” or “vacation savings”). And best of all, you’ll get a great interest rate to earn more with your savings.
Capital One also offers checking accounts, and you can also get a nice cash bonus for opening a checking account. Like the Capital One savings account, this checking account has no minimum balance or fees. To qualify for the $25 bonus you will need to open the account with at least $250 and make at least 3 debit card purchases or Person2Person payments within 45 days.
Capital One also offers a money market account with no fees. You can get a $25 bonus if you open the account with at least $250, or get a $100 bonus for opening the account with at least $10,000.
If you’re not using Ebates already, you should start using it right away. With an Ebates account you can get cash back at thousands of different retailers online and for some in-store purchases. The percentage of cash back varies, but it’s an easy way to save on things that you would buy anyway. And if you make the purchase with a cash rewards credit card you can double dip on the rewards!
Ebates makes it very easy to get cash rewards. You can install a browser extension and it will remind you of cash back opportunities when you are browsing. Just click the notification to activate and you’ll be all set to get cash back on a purchase that you would have made anyway.
To make it even sweeter, Ebates is offering a $10 cash bonus if you sign up through this link. All you need to do to qualify for the bonus is make one purchase in the first 30 days.
BeFurgal is a cash back site/app similar to Ebates. BeFrugal will give you a $10 bonus for signing up, but you’ll need to earn $10 in cash back in order to get the bonus (so it’s a little harder to earn than the bonus from Ebates.
With Swagbucks you can make money for simple things like taking surveys, watching videos, and playing games. It’s a really easy way to make money with your spare time.
Ibotta is one of the best money-saving mobile apps (and it’s free). You can find cash back offers at a huge number of retailers, including stores that you shop at every week. Simply pick the offers that you want, and after your shopping trip use your phone to take a photo of your receipt. It’s really easy and you can get cash back on things you would be buying anyway.
Spent is a cash back app that you link to your credit and debit cards. When you make purchases at their participating retailers using your linked cards you’ll earn cash back. They have a lot of great retailers like Amazon and Wal-Mart, as well as some restaurants, in their program. It’s an easy way to earn cash back, and you can even get a bonus just for signing up, linking a card, and making your first purchase.
Acorns is one of my favorite mobile apps. You can connect a credit card to your Acorns account and when you make a purchase it will round up to the next dollar, and the difference will be invested. You can also set up recurring investments or make one-time investments when you have the money. Your investments are automatically diversified across 7,000 stocks and bonds.
Qapital is another great app that makes savings fun. You can set up a variety of different types of rules that will trigger savings (transferring money from your checking account), and it will build up in your Qapital account. One of the great things about this app is the flexibility and possibilities for these savings rules. For example, you can set up a rule that if you spend less than $20 a week at Starbucks it will save the difference for you. You can set up goals and rules that will be fun and motivate you. And Qapital accounts are FDIC insured.
thredUP is a great website for buying second-hand clothes at up to 90% off. Although the items are used, thredUP only accepts high-quality like-new items, and they also offer free returns.
If you’ve never used Airbnb, you can sign up and get $40 towards your first trip. Through Airbnb you can rent unique homes all around the world.
