Moving to a new house can bring a lot of excitement. Most of us dream of having certain things in a home or a property, and when some or all of those dreams come true, it’s only natural to be excited. But the reality is, moving is expensive.
In terms of building wealth and making the most of your money, staying put is usually the best option.
Unfortunately, sometimes moving is a necessity.
And in life, decisions are usually made on factors aside from just money. Maybe you’ve changed jobs and you don’t want to commute an hour each way. Or maybe you’d rather be in a different school district where your kids will get a better education. Sometimes the costs of a move are justified.
Or maybe you’re renting and ready to move into the world of homeownership.
If you’re considering moving, be sure that you’re aware of the costs and the financial impact that it will have. Once you know what to expect, you can make the best decision for you and your family.Continue reading
When it comes to saving money or making money, I love easy wins. Things like changing my cell phone carrier and cutting my bill in half, or shopping at a discount grocery store to save significantly each week are some of my favorite ways to save money. I don’t have to do very much at all, and it keeps my expenses down without negatively impacting my life. One of the easiest ways I’ve made or saved money is through credit card rewards. I use a credit card for just about everything. On any given day (including today while I am writing this article) I probably have $0 cash in my wallet.Continue reading
By far the most profitable days of my career have been the days when I sold websites. I’ve sold several different sites since my first sale in 2010, and these lump sums are always exciting.
Selling a website or blog can be a great way to improve your financial situation, but selling at the right time is extremely important. You don’t want to sell too early and miss out on the chance to make even more money. And you also don’t want to hold on to the site too long and watch the value decline.
I’ve had a few friends over the years that sold sites for 10-25% of what they could have sold it for just a couple of years earlier. Ouch. I don’t want that to happen to me, so I’m always watching out for signs that it might be nearing the time to sell a website.
Selling your website is a personal decision. Factors related to your family and career will impact the decision, so you can’t take anyone’s advice (including mine) without putting it into the context of your own situation. This article is intended to be a guide to get you thinking, but not to tell you what is best for you, because only you know the details of your own situation.Continue reading
If you’ve read my article How I’ve Made Over $1 Million Blogging you know that selling websites and blogs has been a major part of my business over the past 10 years. While I’ve made a pretty decent income from managing my own sites and blogs, it’s the lump sums that I’ve made from selling some of those digital properties that has been life changing for me and my family.
I’m not saying I can kick back and never work again, because that’s not the case at all… I work long hours every week. But selling websites has allowed my wife and I to load up on our retirement savings so we’ll hopefully be able to retire a little early, plus we’re able to live mortgage free.
Over the years the topics related to my experience with selling websites and blogs have always seemed to be intriguing to a lot of other bloggers. If you’ve never bought or sold a website before it can be a little overwhelming to think about the process of actually selling your own blog. But at the same time it can be really exciting to think about how much money you might be able to get for it!Continue reading

If you’re looking to make some extra money aside from your full-time job, or if you’re interested in making a full-time income working online working from home, blogging may seem like a dream come true.
Or… it could seem like a hyped-up fantasy that’s not really possible.
I’ve been working online since 2007, and full-time since 2008. Over the past decade I’ve made more than $1 million thanks to my blogs. After working as a blogger for so long I can tell you that it is possible to make a good income with a blog. But the truth is, building a successful blog takes a lot of work and takes some patience. The same can be said about any type of business. No business is easy or else we would all be doing it.
In this article I want to talk about a few things that have been key in allowing me to make money with blogs.Continue reading
