RebateKey Review

If you’re like most Americans, you do a lot of shopping online. E-commerce has been trending up for several years, and that’s only increased in 2020 and 2021 with more people opting to stay at home.

RebateKey is an amazing resource that helps you to get deep discounts or even free products sold at e-commerce giants like Amazon and Walmart. If you’re frugal or you love finding a great deal, RebateKey is likely to become one of your favorite websites.

In this RebateKey review, I’ll cover all of the important details about the site and how it works. If you decide that you want to save up to 100% on products you buy online, you can create a free RebateKey account and start shopping right away.

What Is RebateKey?

RebateKey is a website that offers rebates (as you might have guessed) and coupons for a wide variety of products that can be purchased online. Most of the products are sold by third-party sellers at sites like Amazon and Walmart (the majority are on Amazon). It’s one of the best ways to get rebates and coupons for Amazon.

The amount that you save will depend on the specific offer, but some offers allow you to earn a rebate for 100% of the purchase price.

If this sounds too good to be true, it helps to understand why sellers might choose to list a product on RebateKey with a 100% rebate campaign. Third-party Amazon sellers want to see as many sales as possible because conversion rates and sales momentum can influence their products ranking in Amazon’s search engine. If you’re claiming a rebate offer from RebateKey, you’ll purchase the product on Amazon for the full price and RebateKey will issue the rebate to you.

From Amazon’s perspective, it shows up as a full-price sale. These sales can help a product to gain momentum and get more visibility by ranking higher for searches on Amazon. As a result, sellers can benefit by giving away products because it may lead to many more sales.

How Does RebateKey Work?

First, you’ll need to create a free account at RebateKey. It takes just a minute and once you have a buyer account you can fully use the site and claim offers that are available.

RebateKey presents rebate offers and coupons. While the offers will vary, you’ll typically find that the rebates offer a higher percentage off the regular price.

When you use a coupon, you’ll be entering the coupon code during the checkout process and saving money at the time of the purchase.

Rebates are different. When you claim a rebate, you’ll purchase the product for the full price and then verify your purchase. About 35 days later, you’ll be paid the amount of the rebate.

The reason for the 35-day wait is to prevent people from buying an item, getting the rebate, and then returning the item. The wait is slightly inconvenient, but it’s understandable when you consider it from a seller’s perspective.

Finding Deals

RebateKey lists offers in 3 main categories:

  • Rebates
  • Coupons
  • Deals

Deals are savings that are simply discounted prices. You don’t need a coupon code and no rebate is involved.

RebateKey Deals Available

You can browse any of the 3 main categories by using the colored buttons above the grid of offers, or you can use the navigation menu. I’m going to select “rebates” to see only the rebate campaigns.

You can search for offers by keyword, browse by product category, or use the filtering options to control how the offers are displayed. For example, if you want to see all of the 100% rebates, click on the filtering options (to the right of the search bar) and select “% discount”. Now, you’ll see all of the 100% offers at the top.

Filtered Results

However, you’ll notice that a lot of them have a red icon and indicate that no more rebates are available. All of the offers will have a limited number available each day and once they’re gone, you won’t be able to claim a rebate until more are available (often that’s the next day). You can click on the “notify me” button if you want to be notified when more rebates are available for a particular product.

If you want to browse only the offers that are available at the current moment, click on the filtering options and select “advanced search”. Then tick the box that says “hide products out of rebates” and search.

Hide products out of rebates

Now you’ll see only rebates that are available to claim right now.

Current offers

When you see something that interests you, click on the offer for more details. You’ll see a screen like the one shown below.

Claiming an Offer

From here, you’ll be able to see details like where the product is sold. In this case, it’s being sold on Amazon (most of the deals from RebateKey are sold on Amazon). The offer is a 100% rebate campaign. I have an Amazon Prime membership with free shipping, so I can get the Amazon product for free after the rebate.

If you want to claim the offer, click on the button. The process will vary a little bit depending on the product you’re buying and where it is sold, but it’s very simple. However, you only have 60 minutes to make the purchase and verify it. That’s because there are a limited number of rebates available, so if one goes unclaimed, they will open it back up for someone else.

RebateKey will tell you to make the purchase and then come back once that is done.

Buying from RebateKey

RebateKey will ask for the order number of your purchase and then you’ll receive a message confirming that your purchase has been verified.

Rebate Has Been Approved

Once this is complete, you can view the purchase history in your RebateKey account and see that it is showing up correctly.

Waiting for Rebate

The rebate will be held for 35 days to clear the refund window and payment will be made. You can choose to be paid by check, PayPal, or gift card.

Is RebateKey Legit?

The idea of purchasing a product at full price and waiting more than 30 days can be a little off-putting if you’re not familiar with the company that is offering the rebate campaign. I know I was a little bit skeptical when I first came across RebateKey. However, it is legit.

I’ve used RebateKey a few times as a buyer, and sure enough, the check shows up on time (the check comes from RebateKey, not from the Amazon seller). RebateKey claims to have paid out more than $20 million in rebates so far.

However, it’s important to understand that sellers have 5 days to dispute your purchase if there are problems (like if you return the item). As long as you make a legit purchase and don’t return the item, you should have nothing to worry about. But it does require you to purchase the item before getting confirmation of the rebate.

Getting the Most Out of RebateKey

RebateKey can be great for finding amazing deals, but there are some caveats that you need to be aware of:

  • No-name products. The Amazon FBA sellers that offer extreme discounts, including 100% rebates, are selling products from brands you’ve probably never heard of. Most of them are private label brands selling on Amazon. You’re unlikely to find name brand products.
  • The best deals don’t last very long. Naturally, everyone wants to grab the 100% off rebates, so these can go quickly. You may need to opt in to notifications or check the site at random times in order to get the best and most popular deals.
  • Great for browsing, but not ideal for finding specific products. When you shop at Amazon, you’re probably searching for specific products, already knowing what you want. When you search for a specific product at RebateKey, a deal may or may not be available currently. It’s more ideal for browsing the best offers and seeing if there is anything you can use.
  • You can’t resell the products. Those of you flippers out there might see this as a great opportunity to nab some products that you can resell, but reselling these items is a violation of RebateKey’s terms of use.

My preferred way to use RebateKey is exactly what I showed in this article. I generally only browse rebates and not the coupons or deals because the rebates give the best percentage of savings. I like to sort them to show the highest percent rebates first, so I can see the best deals. Then I browse to see if there is anything I want or need.

RebateKey is also great for gifts. Browse the site every now and then to grab offers whenever you see something that would be good for a friend or family member. You could save a lot on gifts with this approach!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to leave a review of the product on Amazon?

No, RebateKey does not require you to leave a product review or seller feedback. Incentivized reviews (getting a free product or discount in exchange for a review) is a violation of Amazon’s TOS. Sellers cannot require you to leave an Amazon review or a Facebook post or anything else, and RebateKey abides by Amazon’s rules. This is to prevent a customer from leaving a fake review. You’re free to leave an honest review if you choose to, but it’s not required. Of course, sellers are hoping to get 5-star reviews, but you’re able to leave a negative review if you have a bad experience.

Why would sellers give away free or deeply discounted products?

Sellers use rebate offers to get people to try their product and to get more exposure. It’s a cost-effective way to start making some sales on Amazon, Walmart, or another platform. Those sales may help the product to rank higher in searches, leading to more sales. This approach is often used by small sellers or during a product launch to get momentum for a new product.

Why do I have to wait 30+ days for the rebate payment?

The waiting period prevents the buyer from getting the rebate check and then returning the product for a full refund. This ensures that the customer pays the full price before getting the check, and protects sellers from fraud. If there was no waiting period, a scammer could claim the rebate, return the product, and make easy money.

Is RebateKey worth it?

Absolutely! You can get deep discounts and free stuff thanks to the available offers, and it’s really easy.

Does RebateKey have a mobile app?

The app is not available yet, but we’ve been told by RebateKey that it is being developed and should be available soon.

Are rebates paid in cash?

You can choose to be paid by check, PayPal, or gift card. You can choose an Amazon gift card, Visa, MasterCard, or gift cards from several other stores.

Conclusion

RebateKey is an excellent website for saving money on things that you buy, and especially for saving money at Amazon. Where else can you find 100% off rebates and get free stuff?

Sure, there are some limitations and minor drawbacks to the site, but overall, the selection of deals is pretty good. The site is straightforward as has been shown in this RebateKey review and I’ve yet to have any issues with any rebate claim. When I first tried RebateKey, I was actually surprised at how smooth the process was.
