Referral programs can be a great way to make some extra money, or to save on things you would buy anyway. Many companies use refer-a-friend programs to get exposure, so there are plenty of opportunities.
Chances are, you already tell your friends and family about the products and services that you use and love. Referral programs make it possible for you to be rewarded for that word-of-mouth advertising.
Many referral programs also give discounts or special offers to your friends, so everyone wins. These bonuses and special offers make it a little easier to share with others. It also increases the number of people who will make a purchase through your referral link, which means more rewards for you.
How to Use Referral Programs
The best companies/websites/apps to recommend are the ones you use personally, because you can share from your own experience.
Not all referral programs work the same. In some cases you will need to be an existing customer in order to get a referral link, and in other cases you can refer people even if you are not currently a customer. Sometimes you will need to login to an account and get the link from your account, but other times you won’t need an account or a login. Some of the referral programs today simply ask for your name and email address to generate your referral link.
One method for promoting these programs is to share your referral links by using your social media profiles. If you have a blog you can also use the links there (in general). In some cases you’ll earn cash, but in many cases it’s store credit that you can use for your own purchases.
If you have a friend who is also interested in saving money, you can help each other by taking turns with referrals, and you’ll both reap the benefits!
